BA Social Work recommendation.
…I appreciated that before being allocated key work PS, PE and key-workers ensured that I was informed, outcome focused ,trained and previously had meet the young people I would be supporting. I enjoyed the supervisions and team meetings as they were informative and discussed different aspects of young people’s life which helped me critically reflect on practice as well as my development. Through the placement I strengthened my knowledge and understanding of UASC and care leavers legislations, policies and challenges faced, alongside awareness of community and national resources available.Although I was working alongside one of the key-workers and supporting her young people during the time she was absent, I found myself also supporting the young people from other key-workers and shadowing key sessions, appointments and meetings. This offered and allowed me to learn different approaches of working and supporting young people and apply that experience in my key work. I appreciate during placement they were flexible in my placement timetable and rescheduled meetings were necessary so that I could attend, therefore were able to attend lectures, seminars and complete weekly reflection journal. Although my placement lasted for month, the experience, knowledge and valuable feedback I gained will carry it forward as I progress and develop further. Thank you.
