BA Social Work recommendation.

…Moreover, I was appropriately ‘pushed’ out of my comfort zone and, with enough supervision, encouraged to be more independent and develop my professional skills, which helped me to start thinking and acting as a professional, not just a student. I was also encouraged to seek for additional learning opportunities outside the organisation, such as visiting other agencies and shadowing other professionals, which helped me to acquire a broader understanding of the support system for young refugees and asylum seekers.

When the Coronavirus broke out, I was working remotely, from home, for two weeks before my placement with PTI was, unfortunately, stopped prematurely due to these unprecedented events. Despite facing such a challenging situation and experiencing increased workload, PTI’s response and the change in the way they deliver their service was suitable and efficient. Consequently, I felt equally supported as before the pandemic. I regularly received sufficient information and guidance, and I always felt free to ask questions and debrief whenever needed.

PTI does a wonderful job in supporting young refugees and asylum seekers, safeguarding them and teaching them all the relevant skills they will need once they start living independently. Their work ethics, values and approaches very much align with those of social work, which makes them a perfect match for any social work student who wishes to learn first-hand about working methods such as service user empowerment, person-centred approach, outcome-focused approach, AOP, ADP, trauma informed practice, strengths-based approach, partnership work, and reflective practice.

I profoundly enjoyed my time spent with PTI.  I am grateful for this enriching opportunity, thank you for your support and everything you taught me.
