Glenis King

Glenis has a passion for youth work. This passion was shown in her local church, where, when she was younger, she was very active and took on many roles, becoming assistant youth leader and choir director. She also took part in drama, dance and playing musical instruments including the drums and tambourine.  As a young person Glenis always knew that she would work with young people but never knew in what way.

Glenis was previously a family support worker at Cheshire house in London. She enjoyed this role and it taught her a lot about herself as a worker and helped her to achieve more for herself and the type of work to do with young people.

In June 2010, Glenis finished her 3 year degree BA (Hons) in Informal education, youth work, community learning and development at Canterbury Christ Church University. During this time she was working at Croydon Drop in doing outreach, advice and advocacy and school projects around drugs and alcohol, sexual health, self esteem, anger management, building relationships, bereavement and lost.

Glenis plans to take a Masters in social work or to start up her own business in the near future.
