Sessional Support Worker – Surrey – Full/Part time £9-£11 per hour according to experience Closing date: 1st July 2011 Pathways to Independence provides accommodation and support services to young people in need, aged 16-18 years +. We are currently in the process of expansion and have vacancies in the Surrey area. We are looking for an individual with a strong background in youth and social work who can work flexibly including weekends, evenings and ad hoc work. Experience in working with young people with complex and diverse needs, from a variety of backgrounds, is essential. Experience of care leavers and working in supported accommodation and / or youth work settings are highly desired. The post(s) advertised involves working as a member of an intensive support team to provide personal support and advocacy to young people living away from family, to meet their learning, social and personal development needs. Practical support to young people living in PTI accommodation in the area of independent living skills and towards building realistic expectations is also a key function of the post. The ability to connect with disengaged and hard to reach young people, to motivate, empower and to promote positive outcomes, are highly sought, as are the ability to challenge behaviour and work within boundaries The post requires an enhanced disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau before the appointment is confirmed; applicants with CRB checks already in place are strongly desired. Flexibility and a clean driving licence are also highly desired. This post could lead to a more permanent position or additional hours.
